A Very Happy Laura D

I just wanted to come on and say how happy I am. For 6 months I thought my Hook DVD was lost, then all of a sudden I find out my dad had it in his cupboard! I don't know how it got there, I'm just so happy to have it back and watch how cool Hook and Smee are.

I also need to start playing more poker. I haven't been playing as much as I should so starting either tomorrow or Friday I'm gonna play a lot. That's a warning for you Paul, I'll be on the computer a lot!

Here's a photo...

Laura D's Opinion on Various Disney Movies

Aladdin - At the very start of this movie when the merchant storyteller is riding the camel then stops to try to sell us stuff and tell us the story, I wonder whether or not he is the Genie? Because he is afterall voiced by Robin Williams, he is also in possesion of the lamp and who else would know the whole story?

I was also thinking that you wouldn't get this kind of movie from Disney nowadays because whenever I see a commercial for a Disney movie it always says at the bottom of the screen "contains mild peril", now if you have to warn about that just think of the kind of warnings they would have to give with a movie that in the first 5 minutes you hear "they cut off your ear if they don't like your face" and "I had to slit many throats to get it"!

Aladdin in my opinion has the best songs in a singular Disney movie. "Arabian Nights" - a GREAT song that Leonnie and I like to sing. "Prince Ali" - the whole song and the parade reminds me of Apollo Creed's entrance in Rocky IV, which is a good thing, although it was a little obvious that it was just going to rile up that Russian guy, this now brings me on to my review of Rocky IV......Anyhoo. I also liked the reprise of the Prince Ali song by Jafaar, "So Ali turns out to be merely Aladdin!" I watched this movie last night actually with Paul and it got to a certain part and I remember being a child watching it, I got the same urge last night as I did when I was a child....which was to use the fast forward button when it got to "A Whole New World"....and I did.

Another thing I like about this movie is that everyone has a sidekick. Aladdin has Abu. Jafaar has Iago. Jasmine has Raja the tiger. The Genie has the carpet (I think the carpet is an underrated character). Exactly what all this signifies I'm not sure.

Another underrated character is the cave of wonders itself! It's a very scary CGI cave and I like it.

Jafaar is my favourite character which you might have guessed. I think his voice is so cool and seeing another person on tv that is as thin and who's hands are as boney as mine makes me feel good. I have no idea why Jasmine didn't just marry him in the first place. I also loved the way he kept calling Aladdin "Prince A-boo-boo" even though Aladdin corrected him!

I love this movie and give it 9/10. (it may have gotten 10 if only A Whole New World wasn't part of it and if Aladdin just wasn't so selfish and freed the Genie after his second wish, it would've saved a lot of time a trouble)

Sup?

Just on to say that very soon I will be writing a "Laura D's opinions on various Disney movies" about Aladdin. I've just now got my little hands a hold of an Aladdin DVD. I haven't seen this movie in so long so it'll be interesting to see it again.

(To Leonnie) If we have nothing to do on Friday again we will probably watch Aladdin since I remember you saying you haven't seen it in ages either. Also we shall enjoy Arabian Nights! Like Arabian days! More often than not! Are hotter than hot! In a lot of good waaaaaaaays!

Thank you for your attention.

I found a very interesting article

You should read it CLICK HERE

TV Appearance 2 pt1

This is my second TV appearance in a show called "Taggart", I hate this show, I want this to be known. Reason for being in this show - I got paid, what do you want from me?

In this scene I am in a pub talking to my "husband" when a fight breaks out in the background.

I don't know if you can tell but I'm the small one with the long brown hair holding a glass talking to the guy sitting down.

TV Appearance 2 pt 2

Here I am just about to be pulled out of the way of the fight by my "husband". They did this take about 20 times and at least twice I got hit in the back with a pint glass.

TV Appearance 1

I can't get clips of my tv appearances onto the computer so I shall post a picture and tell you what happened. Not as good but oh well.

Below is a photograph from The Strange Case of Sherlock Holmes and Arthur Conan Doyle.
As you can see this is what happens if you go work for the BBC! Anyhow, I had fallen victim to a ritual killing. They slashed my throat and carved a cross into my head, you can see the defensive wounds on my hands and for some reason they put orchids around me. That may be a wedding dress I am wearing, I'm not sure, I didn't ask. Oh and DAMN YOU SHERLOCK HOLMES! I watched that whole tv movie and you didn't even figure out who killed me!

Good special effects make up, even though it took 3 hours of sitting in a trailer to do. The guy, who incidentally is the guy who did the make up for Hugh Grant in Bridget Jones's Diary (this is something I am not proud of and I do not like having a weird connection with Hugh Grant), did all the throat cutting and all those little cuts in the trailer then we got in a car and drove to the set (people look at you like your a weirdo when you get out of a car and walk along the street looking like that). When we got there he poured the fake blood everywhere!

Later on I'll come back and post about the other one.

Confusion

I know a person who wishes to remain un-named that cannot tell the difference between a few people. I find this shocking so much I feel I had to blog it. Mainly because everytime these people come on tv he has no idea who it is and is convinced and even argues with me over who they are.

The first two people he gets confused with are Layne Flack and Phil Laak. I really have no explanation as to why he can't tell the difference except from the fact that their names are slightly similar. Every time Layne Flack comes on tv he says to me "look there's the unabomber!"

The second couple of people he gets confused with is from me watching Six Feet Under - yes I know it finished ages ago but I've just started watching it. Anyhow, he cannot tell the difference between Nate and David. Every time David comes on tv he'll turn to me and, not wanting to be wrong, says to me "uh......hey that's that guy.....(waiting for me to give him some sort of clue if it's Nate or David)......uh.....Nate?" Then I have to laugh hysterically and tell him over and over again that it is David and explain the storylines that David is involved in and the storylines Nate is involved in.

Even though he really wants to get it right he never does, be it Phil Laak and Layne Flack or Nate and David Fisher, he never gets it right. I do however take great delight in asking him over and over who they are.

Laura D's Opinions on Various Disney Movies 3

Dumbo - A good movie that only lasts 64 minutes. Storyline - a big eared elephant learns to fly with his ears, that's weird. My favourite character is the little mouse, I don't know about you but I can't resist a person who says "woild" instead of "world".

In my opinion the best part of this movie is by far the weirdest part - when the mouse and Dumbo get all drunk and start hallucinating about pink elephants. I think this song is so good I even have it on my mobile phone and listen to it when I play poker. Okay maybe I don't but I do have it on my computer and listen to it every so often!

I can't think of anything else to say about this movie so onto the rating. This movie gets 7/10 (maybe it would get more if I could remember it better).

Weird Effect

Another Photograph

This is me acting cool with my prop cigar

"Reading"

If you drink Jesus' blood, do you become him?

Paul, Leonnie and I were discussing Dracula today and somehow it came up that Leonnie's Mum (Gillian) told Leonnie that Dracula was a disciple of Jesus. Now I didn't read about this in the bible! I have no recollection of Dracula even being in the bible! Anyhow we started talking about how if Dracula really was a disciple of Jesus would he be tempted to suck his blood? AND if he did so, then would he become Jesus somehow? Something to think about....

Internet cut off!

Yes and that's why I haven't posted in so long. The internet was cut off and we didn't get it back until 2 days ago. It's not nice to live in the dark ages without internet, no checking email, no poker, no blogging, no nothin'. During this time we had absolutely nothing to do so we played The McLaughlin Group a lot. I was Eleanor and McLaughlin but then Paul would be McLaughlin and Tony and Pat. You see when you play the McLaughlin Group everyone wants to be McLaughlin! That's all for now, I'll post later. Bye Bye!
