Jazz in the Movies with Laura D

I decided to "cartoon" myself and this was the result.

It's my new book! Or perhaps it's a cd. Maybe it's my new documentary soon to be shown on TCM.....wow, that would be cool.

News on Reviews

As some of you know, I haven't done a "Laura D's Opinions on Various Disney Movies" in a while and I am here to announce that I am changing it to "Laura D's Opinions on Various Robin Williams Movies".....for a short time anyway, because I really want to review Hook!

What else? I just played Back to the Future 3 on the Master System. My whole life I haven't been able to get past that first level! I never reach Clara in time. She ALWAYS falls off the cliff!

I'm off now, I'm really in the game playing mood so gonna go play Michael Jackson's Moonwalker for the Mega Drive. That is a real cool game.....until it gets to the Thriller level and goddamnit I hate it when the zombies drip zombie juice all over you!

Old Timey New Orleans Postcard

Here was just a regular photo of me but when you add an effect in photoshop it transforms into an old timey "visit n'orlins" postcard.

Update!

  • I got my hands on some facial recognition technology! You upload a photo of yourself and it will detect your facial features etc and match them to a celebrity. I.E it will tell you who you look like. I did a photo of me and apparently I look 90% like Julianne Moore, 75% like Angie Harmon, 73% like Bebe Neuwirth and weirdly 72% like Orson Welles. I then did a Leonnie photo. Leonnie, you look 73% like Bridget Fonda, 60% like Julie Andrews and weirdly 66% like Keifer Sutherland. Here's the website http://www.myheritage.com/FP/Company/tryFaceRecognition.php
  • I wrote a song a while ago called "The 3 Freunds!" for piano and just printed it out to play it, and man is it hard to play your own songs!
  • Feel like watching Gilda later.
  • Edited some stuff today and made a trailer, you'll see this on Friday Leonnie! Paul thinks it's hilarious.

Laura D's Opinion's on Various Disney Movies

Here's the deal. I can't actually think of any Disney movies that I remember so well, for a second I thought "I know! Hook!" but then later remembered that it is infact a TriStar movie. Then I thought "I know! Jumanji!" but then also later found out that Jumanji is also a TriStar movie.

In conclusion I may decide to give my opinions on various TriStar movies if I can't think up anymore Disneys.

B/W Photo of Laura D

I like this picture, what do you think?

UPDATE!

  • Been updating the blog recently and going around labeling things. Go click one I dare you.
  • I found out I punctuate like I'm Romanian. I'll write red, yellow and blue. Instead of the English speaking way of writing red, yellow, and blue. Notice the commas. I prefer my way.
  • Not played much poker recently. Not had time.
  • (To Leonnie) I want to play Bij when you come over on Friday. "Float in space and cannot move! Ha!"
  • Found a new website to get sheet music from. I just downloaded Schumann - Kinderszenen. And I just love Von fremden Landern und Menschen (About Strange Lands and People)

Answers to Questions

Would you grant me permission to review your Blog, alike some actor's, tech's and other blogs I have reviewed in the past? Permission granted!

Did you get in trouble from your bro for opening the camera the other morning???
Ok, I admit it. I didn't open it, I just wrote that because I knew he would check my blog while he was at work.

What is your favorite meal???
Anything from my Henry Hill Wiseguy Cookbook.

Do you like football???
No

Do you drink alcohol???
No, only champagne.

Do you watch crap on tv???
No, I only watch good shows. And I just bought the Six Feet Under Season 1 Box Set!

Now that you have this video camera, is it reasonable for us to expect some live youtube coverage from the world of Laura...?
Stay tuned! It is very likely I will put old stuff and some new stuff up.

Laura D - Practically Perfect in Every Way *hands you special tape measure and magic talking umbrella*
I take it you've been watching Mary Poppins....did you get the DVD? And also I think you wrote your username on your blog somewhere.

Thanks for all the questions, you gave me something to do.

My Day

9am - Got up because I'm waiting on a package to arrive.
10am - Watched Larry King repeat on CNN
11am - I am Garfield, I just ate lasagne and yes I know it's 11am but I saw the lasagne and I wanted to eat it!
11.15am - Star Trek is on, I wish they'd hurry up and invent the holodeck already, what are these scientists of nowadays doing all day?!
11.20am - The package I was waiting on has arrived, it's a camcorder that Paul bought, although I did give him some money towards it. What can I say? That's what sisters are for.....it certainly has nothing to do with the fact that I am dying to make a new segment that has been written for ages!
11.40am - I emailed Paul at work, he says I've not to open the package til he gets home.
11.41am - I'm looking at the package. I want to open it.
11.42am - I can see some mini DV tapes sticking out the side of it.
11.43am - I want to open the package.
11.44am - Screw this! I'm opening it!

Photograph

There's something odd about this picture, I don't know what it is...I think my face looks weird

Friday

Just thought I'd post this little thing that happened on Friday. Paul, Leonnie and I had nothing to do so we got the playstation down and played Track and Field. I knew right away what the results would be because it's always the same....

1st - Paul
2nd - Computer
3rd - Laura
4th - Leonnie

And yes, that is how it turned out. But the most fun part of this is when we choose our names, usually when we write in our names we just write whatever letters come up because trying to write on the playstation is hard! I was ABE. I always use the name ABE because it's easiest (all the letters are practically next to each other). Paul was BURR. Leonnie was CLPPO.

During the events we had most fun coming up with chants for each other while it was that persons turn. They are as follows -
ABE's chant: A - B - E, easy as 1 - 2 -3! A - B - E, 123! A - B - E, 123!
BURR's chant: BUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRR! (That's Leonnie and my idea)
CLPPO's chant: C - L - P - P - O, that is what she stands for! Class, Living, People, People, Oranges!

Here is CLPPO doing the long jump.

Another photo

My best Fats Waller impression!

Incase you're wondering, the sheet music in front of me is "Mood Indigo" (Wynton Maraslis' favourite song). I love that song too.

Lunar Eclipse Part 2

Here I am watching the lunar eclipse, you can see the back of my head at the bottom right hand corner of the picture and if you look closely at the moon you'll see that half of it is red!

Lunar Eclipse Part 1

This is me (on Saturday) giving a lecture to Paul and my Dad on what the Lunar eclipse actually is. As you can see I am demonstrating using lip balm and my mobile phone. Explaining that the Earth moves in front of the sun blocking the light to the moon making it appear red and not really there.
